Agric sector: Buhari commends performance

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended performance in the Agricultural sector saying that it has made steady progress in the recent years.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Abuja said the agricultural sector had witnessed steady and remarkable progress in the last two years, reducing the food import bill of the country.

While disclosing that Nigeria earns $.5m from the exportation of Hibiscus flower (zobo) the president told Ambassador of the Republic of Bangladesh, Maj. Gen. Kazi Sharif Kaikoband that Nigerians are thriving in the agricultural sector.

Buhari maintained that performance in the agricultural sector had further fuelled the government’s effort to improve exportation of Agricultural products in the country.

The President also received Letters of Credibility from Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Greece and Portugal Ms. Maria Saranto, and Mr. Anthonio Pedro Da Vinha Da Silva, Ambassador of the Republic of.respectively.

Meanwhile, Chief Audu Ogbeh Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development has disclosed that the Federal Government received N20billion Local Purchasing Order (LPO) from Vietnam for the export of raw cashew, adding that the agricultural activities had created jobs for the unemployed youths in the country.
