Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan will today give judgment on the impeachment suit against Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan, as a source has said that the judge had been under intense pressure to deliver judgment as early as possible.
The case was first adjourned till July 26, but it was later brought forward, as a source who spoke on the matter said the decision could be as a result of the urgency of the case.
However lawyers of both parties have been notified of the development.
Another source hinted that since the last adjournment, Chief Judge, Muntar Abimbola had been urged to constitute an impeachment panel, as directed by the Assembly, in spite of the pending suit.
The House of Assembly, at the last plenary on July 6, directed the Chief Judge to set up a seven-man panel to investigate Olaniyan over allegations of gross misconduct.
