#EndSARS: APC Chieftain Condemns Mr Macaroni, Falz for rejecting Sanwo-Olu’s peace walk

The National Coordinator of All Progressives Congress (APC) Volunteers Group, Ambassador Victor Walsh Olufemi has condemned celebrities in the country, including Mr Macaroni and Falz for rejecting the invitation by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a peace walk.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Walsh’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Akin Makanjuola on Thursday.

He described the response of the celebrities as insensitive, unpatriotic and arrogant, stressing that the peace walk was one of the ways to build relationship and winning the confidence of youths after the EndSars drama.

Recalled that Gov.Sanwoolu had on Tuesday, revealed plans to organize a peace walk in December 2021 in commemoration of the EndSars Movement and as a way of closing the gap between government and the citizens.

The headquarters of a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been set ablaze. It was set ablaze by protesters suspected to be against the APC faction.

The building located along Maiduguri road, in Kano metropolis, is less than three kilometres from a mobile police barrack at Hotoro area, Tarauni Local Government Area.

The building housed the head office of the factional group of the APC led by former Kano governor, Ibrahim Shekarau. The faction is opposed by the second faction loyal to the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Police officials of the state later arrived at the scene to maintain law and order.

Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Again Till January 18, 2022

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned till, January 18, 2022, the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu’s lead lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor had approached the Court with an application seeking an order of the Court to accommodate the trial in November and December this year as against the earlier January 19, 2022.

The prosecuting Attorney of the Federal Government, Shuaib Labaran, however, told the Court that a counter affidavit opposing the request by the government has been filled and served on Kanu.

Justice Nyako ordered the Department of State Services to allow Kanu to practice his faith, change his clothes and be given the maximum possible comfort in the detention facility.

Dowen College finally speaks on death of student, dismiss cultism allegations

The Management of Dowen College, Lagos State, has dismissed the popular news that a student of the school who died recently was beaten by some students for refusing to be initiated into cultism.

In a statement signed by the management, the school holds that the allegation was investigated and nothing of such happened.

It said that as a faith-based school, there were effective policies in place to prevent such occurrence.

The school management said it was saddened by the death of the student who was a dearly beloved student of the school and extended deepest sympathy and heart-felt condolences to his beloved family, relatives, friends, classmates and the alumni family at this very difficult time.

Ex-Senate President, Joseph Wayas, dies in London, aged 80

A former President of the Senate, in the Second Republic, Joseph Wayas, is dead. He died in a London Hospital in the early Hours of Thursday.

Wayas had been hospitalized infor months before his death. He was born on 21 May 1941 and served as Nigeria’s third Senate President during the Nigerian Second Republic (1979–1983).

He was born in Basang, Obudu, Cross River State and attended the Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha. He went to the United Kingdom where he studied at the Higher Tottenham Technical College, London, the West Bronwich College of Commerce, Science and Technology, Birmingham and Aston University, Birmingham.

Returning to Nigeria, he worked as a manager or controller from 1960-1969 for several companies in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He was a member of the Society of International Affairs at the Lincoln University, United States.

Chad Sets out to Partner With Nigeria On Electricity

The Republic of Chad has set out to Nigeria to resume talks on a partnership on power supply between the two nations.

The request was made by The Chadian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar Saleh Chahami, on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, in Abuja.

He said the talks which had reached an advanced stage should be
resuscitated for the benefit of both nations.

2 Die In Ogun Auto Crash

A truck loaded with granite has killed two persons in Mowe, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway of Ogun state.

The incident was confirmed by the Spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a statement in Abeokuta.

The auto crash involved the truck, which had no registration number, and another truck (Hanvan lowberg) with registration number WDE 79XB.

An eyewitness said the accident was caused by the truck loaded with granite which lost control and rammed into the other truck.

Police nabbed A Gang of 7 Ritualists in Ogun

Police in Ogun state have nabbed a 7-man gang of serial ritualists in connection with the killing and dismembering of the body of one Sunday at Agbara village in Mawuko area of Abeokuta.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

They were nabbed following a report lodged at Bode Olude Divisional Headquarters by one Abraham Okosun, the brother to the deceased.

The suspects were identified as Lekan Oladipupo, 38; Sulaiman Aremu, 30; Ifayemi Madru, 24; Shittu Saheed, 38, Samod Sulaiman, 35; Akanji Moruf, 23, and Tajudeen Adekunle, 36.

Reps urges FG to recover outstanding debts owed by oil and gas companies

Concerned of the huge debts owed by oil and gas companies in Nigeria, the House of Representatives on Wednesday asked the Federal Government to immediately recover such outstanding debts.

This was based a motion promoted by Hon. Ahmed Munir while in session.

Tendering his submission, Hon. Munir cited a report by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) that 77 Oil and Gas Companies operating in Nigeria are owing the Federal Government over 2.6 trillion naira.

The lawmaker explained that such a huge debt is being overlooked at a critical time when the country needs funding for its annual budget.

Primary school teacher defiles 5-year-old pupil in Jigawa, bags life imprisonment

The Jigawa State High Court sitting in Kazaure on Wednesday sentenced a primary school teacher, Makasusi Sunusi, to life imprisonment for defiling a 5-year-old pupil.

The prosecution counsel narrated that Sunusi, who was the victim’s teacher, lured the pupil and raped her in the school at Kazaure town on 4th February 2021.

Presiding Judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu said the prosecution counsel had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and therefore found the accused guilty of the offense.

She sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for the offence of rape as prescribed by Section 3 of the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014.
