The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused the Federal Government of failing to show interest in the development of university education in the country.
ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, made the assertion on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
he accused the government of not been able to raise N200 billion for educational sector but can pump N4 trillion in fuel subsidy. He emphasized that education is needed in any country that wants to move forward.
Osodeke stated that, no progress has been made so far for the past nine weeks that the strike have been going on, which is due to the lack of interest on the part of the government.
He adds “If all universities are shut down for about nine weeks and there is no single comment from the government’s side, it shows that something is really wrong.”
