WHO Donates Three Ambulances To Lagos Govt

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated three ambulances to the Lagos State Government.

The United Nations Health Agency explained in a tweet on Tuesday, that the donation of the ambulances was to support the government’s effort in curbing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

It added that, the donation of the ambulances would boost the fight against COVID-19 in the state, following the recent successes recorded in Lagos.

The tweet reads, “today, @UN_Nigeria donated 3 Ambulances to Lagos State Govt as part of it support in the #COVID19 response. Ambulances were presented by the @WHONigeria OIC Dr. @BrakaFiona & received by @jidesanwoolu Gov. Lagos State in the presence of SGF/Chair of the Presidential Task Force”.

Moreover, WHO’s Immunisation Team Lead in Nigeria, Dr Braka Fiona, presented the vehicles to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Some members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, witnessed the presentation of the ambulances.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had earlier announced the discharge of another COVID-19 patient from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, announced this in a tweet on Tuesday, bringing the total number of people that have been discharged in the state to 32.

The Governor said, “I announce with immense joy, the discharge of another patient (a female) who has fully recovered from our facility at Yaba.

“This brings to 32, the number of patients we have successfully managed and discharged in Lagos”.

He said that Lagos has an upper hand in the war against COVID-19 as it is winning and will eventually seal the victory.

The Governor, however, thanked the front-line health workers in the effort to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state, thereby urging residents to adhere to and obey all health advisories issued by health experts as they coordinate resources to beat the disease.
