The intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, etc, is called greed.
Greed is an uncontrolled longing for increase in the acquisition or use: of material gain; social value, such as status, or power.
The Late John Jerry Rawlings in an interview before his death, said; he never had a foreign account till he left office as the President of Ghana.
According to him, “it didn’t occur to him, there was no desire for it”.
The Ex-President, who was said to have brought about revolution in the country, recounted an emergency case and events where he needed money – foreign currency, but had to borrow because he didn’t have.
The only reason our honourable politicians and rulers could do what they do is greed! It is because they have great desire for it, they want it all, ‘the national cake’ – they are greedy!
