The south-south leaders had expressed displeasure over the cancelled meeting between them and a delegation from the federal government, saying the presidency disrespected them.
They said the action of the Federal Government amounted to treating the South-South and its people with disdain, and warned on the consequences of undermining the zone.
The Presidency however regretted Its actions saying that the presidential team, to be led by Gambari, was already prepared to leave for Port Harcourt, when they were instructed to suspend their departure and attend the Security Council meeting.
