President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated West Africa’s largest lithium processing plant in the Endo community of Nasarawa State.
Built by Diamond New Energy in partnership with Chinese firms, the $250 million facility processes 6,000 metric tonnes of lithium ore daily to support electric vehicles and renewable energy.
The monumental facility is already yielding immediate economic dividends for the region, generating more than 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs for the local populace. It further cements Nasarawa State’s emerging status as the hub of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector. The federal administration views this launch as a crucial step in the nation’s broader economic reform agenda, designed to reduce dependency on oil revenue and compete aggressively in the global minerals economy.
Representing the President at the occasion, Vice President Kashim Shettima said Nigeria’s solid minerals sector remained a critical pillar in the Federal Government’s drive to diversify the economy.
