VETERAN NOLLYWOOD ACTORS, SAINT OBI, MURPHY AFOLABI PASS ON

The death has been announced of a veteran Nollywood actor, Saint Obi.

The actor, who starred in the movie industry in the 1990s and 2000s, died early in the week in Plateau State at the age of 57 after a protracted illness. His body was taken to the morgue at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

Saint Obi reportedly visited hospitals for treatment for several months before he passed on. Disagreement within the family caused the delay in announcing the actor’s death.

The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is said to be on a fact-finding mission on his death following news that he died in his sister’s home.

Saint Obi came onto the acting scene in 1996 after doing a commercial for Peugeot on NTA and went on to feature in more than 100 movies including SakobiFestival of FireState of Emergency and others.

Saint Obi graduated from the University of Jos after studying theatre arts. The movie star was known by several nicknames like James Bond of Nollywood, Saint of the Moviedom, among others.
