The University of Ibadan has said on Wednesday that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki attended the institution and earned a degree in Classics.
The University’s clarification was prompted by allegations that Obaseki, who is running for a second term in office in did not complete a first degree at the prestigious institution.
But according to the university’ statement Mr Obaseki actually gained admission in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
“Records of his admission and graduation are intact in the archives of the university,” the statement, signed by the University’s registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, added.National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, had earlier cast aspersions on the legitimacy of Obaseki’s UI certificate.
