Terrorists have killed at least five people at Manini hamlet, near Kuriga, on the Brinin-Gwari-Kaduna route.
Kuriga is located in Kaduna State’s Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area and is well-known for its banditry.
In a statement, the chairman of the Brinin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, said that Saifudeen Lawal Isa, another guy from Brinin-Gwari, one person from Kuriga, and two more from Udawa were among the dead.
According to him, the tragic events occurred at 4:30 p.m., when terrorists opened fire on motorists on three occasions along the highway, injuring two women and five others with gunshot wounds.
He added, “The terrorists burnt to ashes a Tanker conveying 33,000 litres of fuel to Brinin-Gwari at the same Manini killing field.”
According to him, “the attack and killings in the area is on a daily basis”, stressing that it had further deteriorated the already traumatized vehicular movement along the Brinin-Gwari-Kaduna highway.
He stated that the dangerous security situation along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna road, as well as the displacement of villages by terrorists throughout the Emirate, had reached an all-time high, with the movement of commodities and people at an all-time low.
He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a full-scale military action against all terrorists’ enclaves in the Brinin-Gwari forests and bordering forests of Niger, Katsina, and Zamfara States as soon as possible.
He also called for the development of a specific JAMB/CBT centre in Brinin-Gwari as soon as possible to ensure that pupils had access to excellent education, as travel to Kaduna had become a pipe dream due to the deteriorating security situation in the area.
Neither the state nor the state police command had issued a statement on the occurrence as of the time of reporting this story.
