On March 9, 2022, police operatives captured Olamilekan Adeoye, a 26-year-old man who pretended to be a nurse in order to abduct a baby from a Lagos hospital.
The suspect was led out of the building by workers and a police officer, according to a video that circulated earlier in the day.
According to one of the hospital’s employees, the suspect got access to the second level of the facility, which houses the maternity ward, pregnant moms, and babies.
He said: “He came in and pounced on food and beverage s for patients before he was noticed and arrested”.
Adekunle Ajisebutu, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event, saying that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is mentally ill.
The suspect was referred to the police hospital and has now been transported to the psychiatric hospital in Yaba for additional examination, according to Ajisebutu.
He went on to say that the suspect’s parents, who live in Lagos’ Fadeyi neighborhood, had been called and confirmed that their son was not in a stable mental state.
Ajisebutu concluded that an inquiry is underway to determine the suspect’s mental state.
