On Monday, the Lagos State Police Command apprehended the driver of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) who killed Oluwabamise Ayanwole, a 22-year-old woman.
Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, verified this in a conversation with The PUNCH on Monday, even as he confirmed that the lady’s body had been discovered.
Ajisebutu remarked, “The BRT driver has been apprehended.”
He also stated that the killers of Ayanwole, who went missing while riding the bus, will be brought to justice.
The abductors, according to the PPRO, discarded the lady’s remains on the Carter bridge around the Ogogoro environs.
THE WITNESS stated that Ayanwola went missing on February 26 while returning to Ota from Ajah, when she boarded a BRT bus with the number 240257 heading to Oshodi at Chevron Bus-Stop about 7 p.m.
According to reports, Bamise worked as a Fashion Designer at Chevron Estate and spent her weekends with her sister in Ota, Ogun State.
Oluwabamise had engaged a friend using voice notes on her phone, sensing danger when the bus did not pick up any other passengers at consecutive bus stops.
The bus driver stated he liked Oluwabamise and asked for her name and other information, according to the voice notes.
As she grew suspicious of the bus driver, she asked her friend to pray for her, and the friend advised her to alight at Oworonshoki instead of getting to Oshodi, her actual stop.
Oluwabamise had also sent a video to her friend showing how dark it was in the bus and said, “There are three men and one woman in the bus. The woman is sitting at the back. That’s the number of the bus in case. Please pray for me.’’
