There are indications that up to 970 passengers are currently trapped inside a Kaduna-bound train in a bush in Kaduna state, where terrorists reportedly bombed a rail track.
Someone whose relation is on the train has told reporters that “My relation who is on board the train is supposed to have arrived, but it till 9.30pm, nothing has been heard from him.
“His phone number is switched. Nobody to talk to,” The train is said to have reportedly departed Abuja by 6.10pm, but is yet to arrive Kaduna as at 9.45pm when this story was published on Monday.
fews hours later, A Young medical doctor identified as Chinelo has took to her twitter account to report that she had been shot by the terrorist who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train on that day thereby asking for prayers. Chinelo was reported to have been dead following a gun shot injuries at the train.
Meanwhile, several Twitter users have expressed sadness over her death, while attacking those who mocked her in her tweet.
Following the attack, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended its Abuja-Kaduna train operations.
The NRC announced its decision in a terse statement on Twitter on Tuesday.
“Dear passengers, due to unforeseen circumstances, Train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route has been temporarily suspended. Further Communication would be given in due course,” the statement shared via @Official_NRC, read.
Terrorists had attacked a train on Monday night, blowing off the rail track between Rijana and Katari in Kaduna State and surrounded it shooting sporadically.
