Gunmen Abduct Two Construction Workers In Niger

Gunmen kidnapped two construction workers along the Lambata Izom route in Niger State’s Gurara Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, the event happened at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, prompting cars to park far away for fear of being kidnapped.

The workers were assaulted and chained, and two of them were kidnapped by the bandits, according to them.

Witnesses to the incident say they had to wait till the terrorists finished their mission.

The gunman shot sporadically into the air for several hours, according to the witnesses.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that the gunmen were engaged by Suleja police and military personnel.

“At around 1500 hours on February 28, 2022, information was obtained that armed bandits assaulted Dajigbe village via Lambata, Gurara LGA, and abducted some victims.”

“However, as soon as the Command received this information, it dispatched a team of police officers, military men from Zuma barracks in Suleja, and vigilante members to the area.”

“The hoodlums were violently engaged in a gun war, and in the process, two bandits were neutralized and four motorcycles were seized from the robbers, while others escaped into the forest with bullet wounds,” according to the statement.

According to the police, there was a temporary motorists block along Suleja-Minna route owing to the gun war, but traffic flow was eventually restored.
