Four feared dead as Fashola, Buhari’s CoS, Ngige’s convoy crashes

During the inspection of a bridge in Asaba, Delta State, the convoy comprising President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and his counterpart in Labour and Employment, Christ Ngige, crashed.

A report by PUNCH says four police officers were believed to have died in the accident on Tuesday evening.

According to John Okorie, an eyewitness, the accident occurred as the truck transporting the victims navigated the bend leading to the building site of the Second Niger Bridge in Asaba.

We learned that the driver of the van transporting security officers lost control and crashed into a deep pit.

The police van was reportedly speeding to meet up with the ministers’ vehicles when it crashed.

“The situation was really fatal,” a Delta Line driver told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity.
