Recall that northern governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe and Yobe also recently raised an alarm on the imminent food crisis.

Recent statistics also revealed that not less than 31m Nigerians suffer hunger while another 1.3m die yearly from causes related to the scourge.

The US government also recently granted food aid worth $32.5m to Nigeria to support about 764,205 deprived Nigerians but Abiola says the grant might come with selfish undertone.
