CBN Cancels ATM Maintenance Fee, Cuts Bank Charges, Others
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed charges and rates for banking activities in the country.
This was disclosed in the CBN new ‘Guide to Charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial’ according to findings by DAILY INDEPENDENT.
The apex bank said the guideline applies to charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial under its licence or regulation.
The document revealed that the CBN has reduced the charges on some transactions including Standing Order Charge (In-Branch); ATM Maninance Fees; Electronic Fund Transfers and Bulk Payments among others.

Tunde Rahman, a media aide to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has said that his Principal travelled to London to hold some meetings and further consultations in line with his 2023 presidential ambition.

The former governor had spent three months in London where he did surgery on his knees and waited until he fully recovered. However, Rahman in a statement issued on Friday, said Tinubu travelled abroad to attend some meetings regarding his political ambition.

Dr. Olufemi Adegoke was a man of unquestionable character and a man whose lifestyle was a model. He was resolute and committed towards the complete decommissioning of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

kidnapped politician rescued by Police in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa state police command said it has rescued one kidnap victim, a former councillor from Cross River and recovered one AK 47 riffle with an empty magazine.
In press statement made available to the Sunday Vanguard, the police authority said that the victim, Hon. Anthony Duke, a former councillor in Calabar south was abducted in Kutimin Shinkafa by unidentified gunmen on 25th January.
The police command said that the hoodlums escaped into the forest in different directions with varying degrees of injuries and the victim was rescued unhurt by the Police.
Coup d’etat: ECOWAS suspends Burkina Faso
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has suspended Burkina Faso from its governing bodies, following the coup d’etat carried out late Sunday that toppled the democratically elected government of President Roch Kabore.
The Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government made the resolution on Friday at the end of its virtual Extraordinary Summit on the situation in Burkina Faso.
The resolutions of the ECOWAS Presidents is contained in a communique issued at the end of the virtual summit made available to journalists on Friday.
The ECOWAS Presidents, who strongly condemned the coup d’état, frowned at the resurgence of coup d’états in Member Countries, adding that ECOWAS will no longer tolerate acceding power through unconstitutional means.
Nigeria Fuji Musician, Saheed Osupa graduates from University of Ibadan
Popular fuji musician, Saheed Osupa, has bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan.
Osupa took to his Instagram page on Friday, January 28, to share photos from his sign-out celebration.

Wema Bank Appoints 2 Female Directors
Wema Bank has appointed two independent non-executive directors to its board following the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s approval.
The two new female directors are Oluwayemisi Olorunshola and Bolarin Okunowo. They are said to be bringing a wealth of corporate experience and more gender diversity to the leading digitally-driven financial institution.
Dr Olorunshola is an experienced supply chain professional with a cumulative 25 years of experience as a business associate in a multinational organisation and a business manager.

NECO Commence Registration For 2022 Common Entrance Examination
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination for admission into JSS I of Federal Unity Colleges.
NECO Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, made the announcement in an official jingle on the council’s website.
Wushishi said the registration was only for pupils who would not be less than 10 years of age by September 2022. He also noted that registration for the examination would be done on the council’s official website: www.neco.gov.ng.
While stating that registration would close on April 23, the registrar encouraged parents to visit the website or any NECO state office nearest to them for more information on the registration process.
Gunmen Storms THISDAY Office In Abuja
Gunmen have raided the office of THISDAY, located at Utako district in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The newspaper said the gunmen stormed the office at about 3am on Thursday.
The armed men reportedly came in through the back fence of the company’s premises. Security men on duty said the criminals subjected everyone including the production staff to “inhumane treatments” for 45 minutes before leaving.
The gunmen whose mission was unclear reportedly told the staff that they would be back again “in the days ahead”.
The management of THISDAY said it has since reported the incident to the police division in Utako district. The attack is coming about 10 years after suicide bombers attacked the newspaper’s offices in the FCT and Kaduna state, killing 11 people.
Oyo Senator Folarin’s Wife Dies in UK
Barrister Angela Nwaka Folarin, the wife of Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, is dead. Teslim Kolawole Folarin is a Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Barrister Angela Folarin died in the United Kingdom on Friday afternoon. A terse statement by Senator Folarin’s media aide, YSO Olaniyi, said “the deceased was hale and hearty until the angel of death knocked the door.”
“With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the death of our wife, mother and sister, Chief (Barr.) Angela Nwaka Folarin.
“May Almighty God Comfort us and Grant Late Angela an eternal rest”, the statement said.
