FG to Sanction Passengers that flee Quarantine Facilities
The Federal Government has said that returning passengers that run away from quarantine facilities, will be sanctioned and possibly prosecuted.
The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire in his address at a news conference in Abuja believe that such persons is posing a major risk to the country’s health system.
In his words he said “I entreat all persons to comply with our port health staff or risk facing sanctions, including prosecution. Non-compliance with their directives constitutes a risk to national health security and will be handled with commensurate severity.”
Benin Republic Files New Charges Against Sunday Igboho
Ibrahim Salami, a lawyer to Sunday Igboho has disclosed that a new charge has been filed against the Yoruba freedom fighter in the Republic of Benin.
He said the new charge was brought against Igboho on Monday.
The Judge said Igboho might have had some criminal association while in Benin, since he came to the country through a back channel, and the court had called for further investigation on his entrance and stay in the country.
CBN Bans Sales of Forex to Bureau De Change
The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced an immediate stop of sales of foreign exchange to Bureau de change.
This was disclosed by the CBN Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday while presenting a communique from the apex bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in Abuja.
In his words he said “The CBN has observed that the BDCs aid illicit financial flows and other financial crimes. The bank has thus, decided to discontinue the sale of forex to the BDCs with immediate effect.”
JAMB withdraws results of candidate for impersonation
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has withdrawn the result of one Attama Ikedichukwu for impersonation in the just concluded 2021/2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Head, Media and Publicity in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said that upon investigations, it was revealed that Ikedichukwu had hired a ”professional examination taker” to take the exam for him, but the board’s post-examination processes found out during the course of the examination.
House help,three others kill Banker in Yobe.
The Police Command in Yobe has arrested four people suspected to have killed Hassan Abubakar, a staff of Damaturu Branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA).
The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement in Damaturu on Monday. The 4 suspects are Umar Shaibu, 21; Tajjuddeen Taufiq, 20; Ismail Mohammed, 17; and Bulama Modu, 17, all residents of Damaturu.
Upon interrogation, Shaibu who is the house help has confessed that he and the three other suspects robbed,killed and buried the banker in his compound.
Osinbanjo Says Judiciary Should Embrace Technology,Innovation
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the Nigerian judiciary should embrace technology and innovation,that technology is necessary for the evolution of the profession and national development.
This was contained in a statement disclosed by his Spokesman , Laolu Akande, on Monday in Abuja.
Osinbajo said that technology and innovation would ensure that the country’s justice delivery mechanism was run on a system of enforceable, discernible laws and efficient institutions.
Four more Kidnapped Bethel Students Gain Freedom
Four more kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist Secondary School in Kaduna State have regained their freedom.
A top official of the school on Monday disclosed that four students escaped from the forest last night where they were held captive by the kidnappers.
This brings the total number of the rescued students to 38 out of the 121 that were abducted by bandits on July 5th, while 83 others students are still in captivity.
FG urges landlords to allow monthly rent payment methods
The Federal Government has appealed to landlords of private property to start charging their tenants monthly, quarterly or half-year rents, instead of the current practice of charging one, two to three years of advance rents.
Minister for Works and Housing,Babatunde Fashola said this yesterday at the opening ceremony of the 15th Abuja Housing Show.
The Ministry said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic,many residents are owing rents and facing eviction and most house available for rent belongs to private owners and not government, appealing that landlords should allow tenants pay monthly or quarterly to ease the situation.
Nine Years Old Sets Supermarket On Fire
Following the fire outbreak at a popular supermarket in Abuja on Saturday, July 17th that destroyed goods worth a millions of Naira, a 9 years old girl Joana Ogar has been suspected to be responsible for the outbreak.
A recent development on the cause of the fire has shown a CCTV footage of a girl who allegedly set the supermarket on fire.
The police has arrested the girls and her mom Mrs Jane Ogar and undergoing interrogation after the CCTV footage surfaced online.

Comedienne, Princess in Court on Monday has disclosed how Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as “Baba Ijesha” wooed her in time past but she turned it down.
This she said when Baba Ijesha pleaded not guilty before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of Lagos High Court when the trial resumed on Monday.
The Court has also admitted the Video recording that showed Baba Ijesha with Princess’s daughter as evidence.
Buhari Signs N982.7bn 2021 Supplementary Budget
President Mohammadu Buhari has on Monday signed the 2021 Supplementary Appropriation Bill into law.
This was disclosed by The Senior Special Assistant to the President of the National Assembly (House of Representatives), Umar El-yakub while briefing the State House Correspondents after the Signing in Abuja.
The Supplementary budget is about N982,729,695,343 will be used for Security and Health issues.
Police kills man in Ibadan Mall
Panic hits as a guy identified to be Tunde, a student of Ibadan Polytechnic has been shot dead by the police for smoking weed.
The incident was said to have occurred in the evening of Sunday, July 25th 2021 when Tunde and his friend were caught smoking weed by the mall police. One of the police held his friend while Tunde tried running away when the police shot him twice and died instantly.
The Policemen flee the scene after the incident and soldiers were deployed to handle the situation. Tunde had just signed out from Ibadan poly.
Court rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s request to be moved to Kuje Prison.
Self acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu will remain in the custody of the Department of State Services despite a request to move him to Kuje correctional centre.
Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court gave the order on Monday during the resumption of Kanu’s trial in Abuja.
In an application to the judge, Kanu had argued that he cannot get a fair trial if he remains in the custody of the DSS. He also sought for an order to grant him access to his medical doctor for the purpose of carrying out a comprehensive independent medical examination on him.
PHYSICAL BIOMETRIC CAPTURING BEGINS IN LAGOS – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State on Monday commenced biometric registration and physical capturing of applicants in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
This was disclosed by INEC Spokesman in Lagos, Femi Akinbiyi, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
He said that the exercise is taking place at the INEC headquarters in Sabo, Yaba and all INEC offices in the 20 local government areas of the state.
GERMANY TO RETURN OVER 7,000 BENIN ARTEFACTS TO NIGERIA OCTOBER
Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that about 7,000 artefacts plundered from Benin Kingdom are expected to be returned from Germany to Nigeria by October.
The Permanent Secretary, Amb. Gabriel Aduda, disclosed this at the Inaugural Nigerian Cultural Show exhibiting Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage, sites and traditional festivals held at the Cultural Centre, Nigeria House, New York.
He also that Nigeria had reached an advanced stage of discussions with Germany to return thousands of different pieces of Benin Bronzes back to the country.
85 Year Old Traditional Ruler Kidnapped
Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Traditional Ruler of Jaba Chiefdom in the Jaba local government area of Kaduna state, Gyet Maude.
This was disclosed by the brother of the monarch, Anthony Maude to Channels Television via telephone on Monday.
Maude said the monarch was kidnapped on his farm located at Gitata community in Nasarawa State.
Gov Abiodun swears in 20 newly elected LG chairmen in Ogun
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, has sworn in 20 newly elected local government councils chairmen of the state, following their victory in the election last Saturday.
Abiodun while speaking during the ceremony in Abeokuta on Monday, promised to provide good governance which would continue to strengthen the local government administration in the state.
He urged them to be transparent, fair and just in their administration and also to not rely solely of allocations from FG but generate funds internally while cooperating with traditional rulers to move the state forward.
Igboho to remain in Detention
Cour De’Appel De Cotonou has returned Igboho to police custody pending further investigation.
He was returned to cell after a 13 hours hearing that ended around 11:20 pm on Monday.
The trial was held closed doors and the court limited attendance to just Lawyers, Igboho’s wife Ropo and few others.
Lagos to Prosecute Actor Yomi Fabiyi
The Kagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has announced that it will prosecute Yomi Fabiyi f of r contempt of court over production of his movie “Oko Iyabo”.
The DPP’s Director and Prosecution Counsel, Olayinka Adeyemi said Mr Fabiyi made a movie from the facts of Baba Ijesha’s ongoing alleged rape case using the real names of the defendants and the survivor of the case.
The Director also urged the court to exclude Yomi from the court hearing
