SECURITY PERSONNEL STOP GOV ORTOM FROM WELCOMING OSINBAJO
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state was on Saturday morning banned by security personnel from entering the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Base Makurdi to welcome the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who was conveyed through the NAF Airport to Wukari in Taraba state by helicopter.
The Governor had earlier received a notification from the State House Abuja on 10th February, 2022 intimating him of the visit of the Vice President, Osinbajo.
Informing the journalists on what happened, he told them he felt bad for the country based on the fact that everything has been politicized.
He further expressed his pains as implores everyone to join hands as they condemn the happenings in the country.
Job creation in Niger Delta will boost Nigeria’s economy – Arewa Youth
Under the Leadership of Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA), it has been observed that creating jobs for the youth in Niger Delta region will go a long way in providing a suitable environment for the oil economy to flourish.
The youth therefore attests the need for sustenance of current surveillance and security contract of pipelines in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
The Spokesperson of the AYA issued a statement at a press conference in Kaduna on Saturday that it was also essential to thank President Muhammadu Buhari and the top management team of the NNPC for their provision in zeroing down on Ocean Marine Solutions Limited.
The Spokesperson also identified the groups’ solidarity with the people from the Niger Delta in the interest of nation-building for the sole purpose of sustaining the feats that has been attained by management of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited .
Tension looms on campuses as ASUU meets
As the national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, meets in Lagos this weekend, tension has been intensified on campuses across the country over the facts of the lecturers going on strike once again.
It was observed that a number of universities already preparing for semester examinations are very apprehensive that the exercises may be affected.
On the part of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, reported the looming strike is another aim to return the students back to the streets. It also added that it would be another intrusion to education in Nigeria.
However, recollecting that the union is demanding the renegotiation of the 2009 Agreement signed by the two parties, the replacement of the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS, with the University Transparency and Accountability System, UTAS, the payment of promotion and salary arrears.
EU INVESTIGATES LINKAGE BETWEEN COVID VACCINES AND IRREGULAR MENSTRUATION
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has began inquiry into reports of heavy menstrual bleeding and absence of menstruation from women who had received COVID vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna.
The agency issued in a statement that it was not yet clear whether there was a friendly link between the vaccines and the reports.
It was observed that Menstrual disorders, can occur due to a range of fundamental medical conditions as well as from stress and tiredness, the EMA added that cases of such disorders had also been reported following COVID-19 infection.
The agency on Friday added that there was also no fact to suggest that COVID-19 vaccines affected fertility.
BUHARI OKAYS SANNI ZORRO AS SSA TO FIRST LADY AISHA
President Muhammadu Buhari approves the appointment of former lawmaker, Muhammad Zorro, as the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Public Affairs and Strategy, Office of the First Lady.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, in a statement issued on Saturday, said that Zorro is a famous journalist who brings to the new job decades of experience in media practice, publishing, and unionist leadership.
The president also approved the immediate redeployment of three of the political appointees in the office of the First Lady to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, pending their assignment to some other government departments or agencies.
Also approved by President Buhari, made effacious February 11, 2022, is the disengagement of Zainab Kazeem, the Special Assistant to the president on Domestic and Social Events, Office of the First Lady.
OSINBAJO LAUNCHES 248 HOUSING UNITS IN NASSARAWA
Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday in Masaka, Nasarawa State, launched 248 housing units and celebrates the 1,000th home built by the Millard Fuller Foundation (MFF).
Osinbajo in a statement at the event said that the Buhari administration remains determined in its vision to build a nation, where low-income earners have the dignity of a decent home and livelihood. He also issued that this will not only improve the quality of life of Nigerians, but also advance the economy through a vibrant housing market.
He added that the foundation is working with the Family Homes Fund to promote the cause of social housing in Nigeria.
The Federal Government’s N-Power programme also partners with the MFF as an official building skills training centre.
