Imo Lawmakers Reinstated Impeached Deputy Speaker.

Imo State House of Assembly took a dramatic turn on Monday when the lawmakers reinstated Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu as the Deputy Speaker after sacking the Speaker, Paul Emeziem.

Amara Iwuanyanwu was impeached on November 2 through a resolution signed by 18 out of the 27 lawmakers of the Assembly, which was presented before the plenary.

The former Speaker, Paul Emeziem, who presided over the plenary on that day, okayed the impeachment of Iwuanyanwu without reading the content of the resolution.

NNPC Dismiss Fuel Price Hike Rumor, Advises Nigerians Against Panic Buying

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has dismissed the fuel price hike runout, said it was also not aware of any plan by government to cause an increase in the pump price of petroleum.

In a statement by Garba Muhammad, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, in Abuja, on Monday, said that the corporation had over 1.7 billion litres of petrol in stock and advised the public not to engage in panic buying if petrol.

According to him, the NNPC is also engaging all stakeholders to ensure smooth supply and distribution of products to every part of the country during the festive season and beyond.

Imo Lawmakers Impeaches Speaker

Lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly on Monday morning impeached Speaker Paul Emeziem and replaced him with Kennedy Ibe.

The impeachment process was carried out amidst tight security with 19 of the 27 lawmakers said to have signed the impeachment papers.

According to the lawmakers, the Speaker was impeached on allegations of gross misconduct, forgery, abuse of office, and high-handedness.

Soludo leads in 18 out of 20 LGAs declared by INEC

Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on Sunday opened and maintained the lead in the Anambra State governorship election.

Elections did not hold in Ihiala Local Government Area and a supplementary election has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 9.

Other candidates in the election are Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

The results from the 20 LGAs showed that Soludo got a total of 103,946 votes, PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo got 51,322 votes, APC’s Andy Uba had 42,942 votes while YPP’s Ifeanyi Ubah got 20,917.

APC calls for a Fresh Election in new press release

In a recent press statement by the All Progressives Congress APC, the party had called on INEC to cancel the Anambra governorship election result and conduct a fresh election.

It stated that what is happening in Anambra is never an election but big time electoral fraud and malpractice.

It also stated that if INEC goes ahead to announce the results, the party will definitely challenge the election process at the court of law, up-to Supreme Court.

BREAKING: INEC suspends Anambra gubernatorial elections for supplementary poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended collation of results of the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra pending the conduct of the election in Ihiala Local Government Area.

This was made known in an announcement made by INEC Returning Officer for the Anambra Governorship election, Prof Florence Obi on Sunday night in Akwa.

She explained that election could not hold in the LGA due to security reasons, and that the election would be conducted in Ihiala on Tuesday, Nov 9.

Amotekun nabs suspected kidnappers, serial rapists in Ondo

Personnel of the state security council in Ondo known as Amotekun have arrested on e Ibrahim Sanni, suspected to be a serial rapist and kidnapper.

Ibrahim was arrested alongside three other members of his gang after they Kidnapped and allegedly raped their victim, a girl.

According to Adetunji Adeyeye, the state commander of Amotekun, the suspect was linked to other numerous kidnapping incidents in the state.

He said the suspect was nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public.

Anambra Elections: Soludo leads as INEC announces 19 out of 21 LGAS results

Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Andy Uba and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Valentine Ozigbo.

The election held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 was contested by governorship candidates from 18 political parties.

From the result announced so far, Soludo leads in 17 LGAs while the results of Ihiala and Orumba North LGAS are yet to be announced.

Delta State Looses Another Commissioner

Another Delta state former Commissioner, Arch Joseph Ajiri Ogeh has died, following the death of Professor Abednego Ekoko, a former Commissioner for Education in Delta State.

Professor Ekoko died on Saturday morning, while reports of the death of Arch Ogeh emerged on Sunday morning.

This was announced in two separate statements released by Alebe Joshua Onos, Press Secretary to the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Isoko North LGA and Ajiri-Oghene Oreh, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council.

Osinbajo attends ECOWAS extraordinary summit

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will leave Abuja on Sunday for Accra, Ghana to represent Nigeria at an Extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

This was disclosed in a statement by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity , Office of the Vice President.

Osinbajo had participated at the 2nd ECOWAS Extraordinary Summit on the political situation in Guinea and Mali held on Sept. 16 in Accra, Ghana.

NDLEA arrests suspected drug dealer behind London-bound multiple consignments

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), says it has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Mr Okoli Ikenna, described as the mastermind of recent multiple attempts to export illicit drugs.

This was disclosed in a statement released by its Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi on Sunday in Abuja.

Bababfemi said that the suspect had been linked to several trafficking in illicit drugs and had been on bail after he was arraigned in November 2020 over a charge of an attempt to export 15.700kgs of Methamphetamine to Australia.
