The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to establish state-of-the-art “Smart Police Stations” across the country as part of efforts to modernize the Nigeria Police Force and enhance security.
The initiative aims to leverage advanced technology, including AI-driven surveillance, digital case management systems, and real-time data analytics, to improve response times, crime prevention, and public safety.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Police Affairs, the smart police stations will be equipped with modern facilities, solar-powered infrastructure, and integrated communication systems to ensure seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies.
The project is expected to roll out in phases, starting with pilot stations in major cities like Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, before expanding nationwide.
The Minister of Police Affairs emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on reforming the security sector and fostering community trust in policing.
The government has also partnered with private tech firms and international organizations to fund and implement the project.
