The Governor of Kano State,Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has abolished the almajiri system in the state
However, the government of the state says it can only allow the Almajiri system stay if proper guidelines are followed.
According to the Governor, these guidelines include necessary provision of basic needs (food, clothing and shelter) and as well as a curriculum that tallies with that of a standard school. He also added that there must be trained teachers in charge too.
“If these guidelines are strictly followed and abide by, then we will allow the system to fully operate in Kano,” Ganduje assured.
