Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have stated that they will cease operations in Russia, as businesses and Western governments punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.
As Russia’s military offensive against its neighbour has taken a toll on Ukraine, it has prompted unprecedented sanctions and international censure.
“Our hearts are with the people who are enduring unconscionable effects from these tragic events in Ukraine,” Coca-Cola said in a statement announcing that it was “suspending its business in Russia.”
Since the campaign began last month, companies ranging from Apple to Visa have declared reduced or halted activities in Russia.
“Given the horrific events occurring in Ukraine we are announcing the suspension of the sale of Pepsi-Cola, and our global beverage brands in Russia, including 7Up and Mirinda,” PepsiCo said in a statement.
