The Canadian government has cautions it’s citizens not to travel to Nigeria, noticing strong security concerns. In a fresh travel advisory it cautions its citizens against unnecessary travels to Nigeria due to the insecurity and criminal activities in the country.
Canadians who are currently in Nigeria were told to exercise a ‘high rate of awareness”
The travel advisory on Nigeria, disclosed on February 16, 2021, was rated as ‘Still Valid’ on February 21, 2021.
Canadians were admonished to “avoid unnecessary travel to Nigeria due to the insecurity issues all around the country and the conversant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, bandits attacks and abductions”.
But the Canadian authorities specifically cautioned the country’s nationals to “avoid all travel” to some parts of Nigeria, particularly the North-Western states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara, as well as well as the North-Eastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa and Yobe.
Other states Canadians were advised to avoid in Nigeria included Plateau, in the North-Central, and Niger Delta states – Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers.
