Former Senator Ademola Adeleke was named the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary poll in Osun State on Tuesday.
The governorship election will take place on July 16.
Dotun Babayemi ran in the PDP primary, which was held at the 10,000-seat Oshogbo stadium.
The primary election took place amid allegations of bias and legal battles that threatened to thwart the process.
Senator Adeleke was also the PDP’s flagbearer in 2018, but he lost to incumbent APC candidate Gboyega Oyetola.
Senator Adeleke received almost 1,800 votes, according to Abiye Sekibo, the parallel primary Chief Electoral Officer of the Osun PDP primary, who informed Channels Television that the other five contenders on the ballot shared only five votes.
It was reported that the election was free and fair amid the rumour of a parallel primary election held in the state.
