Several millions of smartphone users the world over are yet to know that an app exists named ‘In Case Of Emergency’, despite knowing about the existence of its feature for adding ICE contacts in their handsets.
According to a Tech. Engineer/Cybersecurity expert and Managing Director, Freshvine Systems, Lagos, Mr. Temitope Oluwabiyi, during an exclusive interview with FirstNigeriaTV, the ICE app had been created and made available on Google Play store and other similar outlets since 19th November, 2017, but remained underutilized in the less developed countries of the world, up till this moment.
“The beauty of the feature is that it actually exists now as an app downloadable from Playstore and activated on your phone to give steady and daily notifications showing information that rescuers can use for your aid at emergencies, even without initially contacting your phonebook stored ICE contacts”, he said.
“Important information including name, age, height, weight, marital status, genotype, blood group and more importantly, the health status and existing medical conditions/diseases of smartphone users can be easily accessible via the phones notification screen, even when the user has locked the device. These sets of information can be easily used by the rescuer to perform first-aid or relevant therapies, in case of emergencies”, he added.
