Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that the crescent moon of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan, was not sighted. As a result, fasting will continue on Tuesday, with Eid Al Fitr set to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10th, to mark the beginning of the new Islamic month.

This announcement was made via Haramin’s official Facebook page, a platform for Muslims worldwide. They expressed hope for utilizing the remaining moments of Ramadan in ways that please Allah, requesting for acceptance of their fasting, prayers, and deeds, and for the opportunity to witness many more Ramadan seasons in good health.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Muslims are awaiting the announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar. On Sunday, the Sultan called on Muslims to look out for the new moon, indicating the beginning of Shawwal 1445 AH.

The Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs of the Sultanate Council in Sokoto, Sambo Wali, urged individuals who spot the new moon to inform the relevant authorities promptly. Muslims are requested to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan of Sokoto.
