The Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Mr Sanusi Garba, has said the agency has not approved any new tariff rate in the power sector so therefore there is no indication that any electricity distribution company is increasing their tariff.
Garba told journalists in Abuja on Friday that the last tariff review was approved in December 31, 2021, and became effective in February this year.
He urged anyone who noticed any change in the rate of electricity to make a formal report stating so. He further adds, that the last tariff review was in December which is constitutionally their function.
“We have clearly said that we have an obligation by law to do minor review every six months to take care of inflation, forex and so on”, Garba said.
