Man Arrested In Ogun For Kidnapping Two Children During Church Service

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle- aged man, Sakiru Famuyiwa, following a distress call received by policemen at Ibara divisional headquarters, at Ijeja area of Abeokuta for kidnapping two children during a church service.

Report has it that the suspect with his accomplice sneaked into the children department of the Celestial Church of Christ Ijeja, while Good Friday service was on and stole two children, who are two and three-year-old respectively.

On their way out, a vigilant member of the church sighted them and raised the alarm and consequently, the congregants pursued them and arrested one of them. However the police when contacted, were able to get there on time to rescue him from the angry mob, who were about to lynch him.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation. He also ordered that the accomplice be hunted for and equally arrested for prosecution.
