Abducted Father Of Former Imo Deputy Governor Regains Freedom

89-year-old Eze Henry Madumere, father of former Imo State Deputy Governor Eze Madumere has regained freedom from his abductors.

Eze Madumere, the traditional ruler of Ezi Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, returned to his palace on Wednesday.

Michael Abattam, spokesperson of the Imo police command, who confirmed the development, was however s didn’t addressed how the monarch was released.

The royal father was abducted on Friday by gunmen around Iho Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the State.

Petrol to cost N340/litre after subsidy removal in 2022 — Kyari

Malam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has said that subsidy would have been eliminated in 2020 but certain factors prevented it.

He, however, said that the law provides that by the end of February 2022, the nation should be out of the subsidy regime.

He said this at the presentation of the World Bank Nigeria Development Update, November 2021 edition titled “Time for Business Unusual”.

Kyari assured that fuel subsidy removal would definitely be achieved in 2022 as it was now fully backed by law, adding that the price of the product may range between N320 and N340 per litre.

We Don’t Have Control Over Cooking Gas Price – FG

The federal government on Tuesday said that it has no control over the price of cooking gas because the product is fully deregulated in the country.

The minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva, who made the declaration in a chat with correspondents however noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is worried about the hike in the price of the commodity.

He asserted that gas prices are determined by the global market, even though he indicated that government will everything possible to bring down the price especially during the Yuletide season.

U.S. returns Benin, Ife artefacts sto Nigerian Consulate

The Consulate-General of Nigeria in New York has taken custody of three Benin and Ife artefacts from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York.

The Director-General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), Prof. Abba Tijjani, received the artefacts from the museum in company of the Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Amb. Lot Egopija.

Tijjani, who later signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MET, commended the museum for returning the artefacts to Nigeria, urging other museums in possession of Nigerian artefacts to follow its exemplary gesture.

Baba Suwe was a bundle of talents – Gov. Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday in Lagos described late Mr Babatunde Omidina, a.k.a. Baba Suwe, as a bundle of talents.

Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, said Baba Suwe’s demise was also painful and a great loss to the deceased’s family.

Commiserating with the Omidina family over the thespian’s demise, the governor expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian entertainment industry on the passage of the comic actor.

FG launches enhanced e-passport in UK

Federal Government has launchedenhanced e-passport to improve passport application process for Nigerians at home and abroad.

This was disclosed by Mr Sola Fasure, the Media Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement he issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

The minister, who revealed that the Nigerian passport was the highest affirmation of Nigerian citizenship, noted that it was the responsibility of the Federal Government to provide the passport without any stress and within a reasonable period.

Prof. Gambari gets “Special Recognition” at FEC as he clocks 77

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday in Abuja led cabinet members in wishing his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari a happy 77th birthday celebration.

Shortly before the meeting of the Federal Executive Council began, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha announced to the cabinet that today (Wednesday) is Gambari’s birthday.

Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s media aide in a statement quoted President Buhari as congratulating Gambari on the attainment of age 77, and jocularly injected that “you are still going strong, congratulations!”

Jamb Uncovers 706,189 Cases of Illegal Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered 706,189 illegal admissions by universities, colleges of education, polytechnics and other institutions.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, made this known during a Consultative Sensitization Meeting with Select Stakeholders in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Oloyede, while about 114 universities accounted for 67.795 of the illegal admissions, 137 polytechnics were responsible for 489,918, 80 Colleges of Education for 142, 818 and 37 other institutions involved in 5,678 cases.

He said the affected institutions vice chancellors, rectors and provosts have admitted their mistakes by sending a formal letter of confession and disclosure to the JAMB registrar.

Police Nabs 5 Kidnappers in Ogun Community

Police in Ogun State have arrested five members of a kidnap syndicate terrorizing Obada Oko and its environs in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the development to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

The suspects are Aliu Manya, Usman Abubakar, Abayomi Olayiwola, Nasiru Muhammad and Bello Usman.

They were arrested following information received by policemen attached to Obada Oko divisional headquarters that the men were sighted on two motorcycles inside a forest at Eleja area of Obada Oko at about 8:00 p.m.

Obasa Urges Sanwo-Olu to Work on Poverty Alleviating Projects

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has urged the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to work more on policies that bring more dividends of democracy to the people of the State.

Obasa gave the advice when the governor visited the Assembly on Wednesday to present the 2022 Budget Of Consolidation, put at ₦1,388,285,459,990.51.

Speaking after the presentation by the Governor, Obasa who passed a vote of confidence on Mr. Sanwo-Olu for the achievements of the current administration, said the dividends still need to get to the grassroots.

The Speaker also called on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to rejig the economy of Nigeria to reduce unemployment, insecurity and poverty.
