A young man suspected to be ‘yahoo boy’ has reportedly crushed four persons to death in Ijoka area, Akure, Ondo State.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect was driving a Toyota car along the road and suddenly skidded off its lane to crush the victims who were on commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada.
The source added that immediately the accident happened, some sympathizers who rushed to rescue the victims and the driver, later found some fetish items inside the driver’s vehicle. This raised suspension that he is a ‘yahoo boy’.
Angered by their discovery in the car, the sympathizers were said to have descended on the driver and beat him to a point of comatose.
It was the timely intervention of the men of the state police command, who arrived at the scene, that prevented the driver and his vehicle from being set ablaze by the mob.
It was gathered that the victims were later taken to the state hospital mortuary while those injured received treatment at the same hospital.
At the time of filing this report, the state’s command is yet to release the statement on the incident but we learnt that the driver was taken to the state police command headquarters for questioning.
