History was made on Sunday night, April 7, 2023 as the Queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage performed at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.
Last month the Afrobeats singer was set to perform at the ceremony alongside Lionel Richie and others.
Tiwa Savage had a spectacular performance as she thrilled guests and Monarch with her melodious voice, thus making Nigerians proud.
In videos making rounds on the internet, the mother of one could be seen in a green dress as she performed one of her songs, ‘Keys to the Kingdom’. Her epic performance has left many singing her praises.
With her performance, Tiwa Savage has broken records and made history as she becomes the first African artist to perform at the Corona of a British Monarch.
The King was officially crowned on Saturday, May 6th, and a Coronation concert and Coronation Big Lunch was held on Sunday, May 7.
The Coronation was in honor of King Charles, who ascended the throne after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, last year.
The festivities included several notable events, such as a concert featuring famous celebrities at Windsor Castle, and a series of street parties that will take. place through the country and a volunteering campaign called “The Big Help Out”.
