The result just released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party as the winner of the presidential election in Lagos State.
Obi defeated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in nine out of the 20 local governments in Lagos State.
Giving the total votes cast, the collation officer in Lagos State, Prof Adenike Oladiji, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, said the LP candidate got 582,454 while APC got 572,606.
The APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won in 11 LGAs but had a lesser number of votes, thereby lossing the contest to his LP counterpart.
It was a shocking result as Lagos has remained under the firm control of Tinubu since 1999.
