OBASANJO’S ENDORSEMENT NOT WISHES OF NIGERIANS – PDP

The Presidential Campaign Organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the “subjective support” the former President Olusegun Obasanjo declares for Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, is his personal wish.

In a Statement in Abuja, the Spokesperson of the organisation, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said that Obasanjo’s wish did not reflect the opinion or position of the overwhelming majority of Nigerians across the country.

He hower admitted that the former president was entitled to his personal opinion; but as remarkable as it may appear, it remained individualistic.

FEDERAL, STATES, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS SHARED N8.76TR IN 2022

Data available has shown that the three tiers of government shared over N8.76 trillion in 2022 from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements.

Going by the available records,  Federal Government received N3.419 trillion from FAAC in 2022. The state governments grossed N2.754 trillion, local government areas pocketed N1.995 trillion while the nine oil producing states received N601.049 billion from FAAC.

The three tiers of federal, states and local governments got their highest allocations in August, with the Federal Government receiving N406.610 billion; state governments, N281.342 billion and local governments N210.617 billion. Interestingly, the oil producing states received N55.515 billion from FAAC in the month which was less than the N59.992 billion they collected in October this year.

NMA DEMANDS JUSTICE OVER THE MURDER OF MEDICAL DOCTOR

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has condemned the gruesome murder of one of its members, Dr Uyi Iluobe, who was said to have been killed by the relatives of his patient at a hospital in Oghara, Delta State.

The NMA also called on the State government and the Inspector-General of Police to bring the perpetrators of the murder to book.

It was gathered that Dr Iluobe was murdered on December 31, 2022.

In a press statement signed by its President, Dr Uche Ojinmah, and made available to  the press on Monday, the NMA urged the National Assembly to criminalise violence against healthcare workers in the country.

APC BROUGHT TINUBU TO ENSURE NIGERIA’S UNITY —WAMAKKO

A former Governor of Sokoto State and leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Aliyu Wamakko, has revealed that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was brought in to ensure unity of the country is sustained.

Wamakko stated this while addressing leadership of resident communities and council of Obas in the state, who paid him a solidarity visit in his Gawon Nama home in Sokoto.

While welcoming the two groups, Wamakko said, Nigeria is one indivisible nation adding, “therefore, Sokoto is a home to all the tribes irrespective of where one comes from.”

GUNMEN ABDUCT RETIRED COLONEL, TWO CHILDREN IN ZAMFARA

A retired Colonel, Rabi’u Yandoto, and his two children have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits on the Gusau-Tsafe Road in Zamfara State.

An indigene of the area, Mohammed Hassan, said Yandoto was going to his hometown together with his two children Sunday night when he was ambushed by bandits and taken into the forest.

Hassan said, “The bandits ambushed the retired colonel on Sunday night and kidnapped him along with his two children and two other victims”.

“We heard gunshots and started running into the bush for fear of the bandits but later realised that Colonel Yandoto was their target,” Hassan added.

OBI’S ENDORSEMENT BY OBASANJO CRASHES ATIKU, TINUBU’S PRESIDENTIAL BID – UDEOGARANYA

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections, Chief Charles Udeogaranya has called on the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar and the All Progressives Congress (APC),  Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to abandon their presidential campaigns with immediate effect, as their chances of winning have been crashed beyond redemption by the former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s  endorsement of Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

The politician noted that “Obasanjo is not just a two-time former president of Nigeria in both military and democratic governments but the champion of Nigerian unity from the bitter Nigerian civil war, a tall status and an impeccable experience that crowns him the sole right to attest to Nigerians and the global village the best candidate for the Nigerian presidency,”.

CANADA BANS NIGERIANS, OTHER FOREIGNERS FROM BUYING PROPERTIES

Canadian government has banned non-Canadians from buying homes in the country following surged prices in the real estate market. 

The North American country passed the law after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic but it took effect from Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Canada took this decision and projected it will last only two years when some politicians believed that buyers were behind the skyrocketed prices jerking up the supply of homes as investments.

BUHARI CONFIRMS BIU AS FRSC CORPS MARSHAL

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Deputy Corps Marshal Dauda Biu, as the substantive Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

This Approval is contained in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem yesterday  in Abuja.

The new Corps Marshal is the second career staff to be appointed in that capacity, after  Boboye Oyeyemi the erstwhile Corps Marshal who retired in July 2022. He has since then been the Acting Marshal of the corps.

Biu was born in Zaria, Kaduna State, but hails from Hawul Local Government Area of Borno.

ABDULRAZAQ, LAWAL ADVISE  KWARANS ON  PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS

The Kwara State Governor, Mr. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appealed to the people of the state to shun actions or utterances that might jeopardise public peace and safety or put families in danger.

In his 2023 New Year statement that was issued yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor prayed that the new calendar would usher in glad tidings and greater things for everyone in the state and Nigeria in general.

As Nigeria inches closer to another general elections, he urged the people to remain committed to building an inclusive state where public resources would work for all and everyone could attain their full potentials on the strength of their hard work, talents, and God’s grace. 

ENDORSEMENT: OBASANJO CAN’T WIN HIS POLLING UNIT, TINUBU TELLS OBI

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu tells his Labour Party, LP, counterpart, Peter Obi, following his endorsement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the endorsement has no political values.

Tinubu said Obasanjo cannot win his polling unit; hence Obi is at risk for associating with the former president.

Speaking through the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said nobody in Ogun State could rely on Obasanjo to become governor or councillor.

The APC presidential candidate noted that the former president has never succeeded in making anybody become president in Nigeria.

CRISTIANO RONALDO REGRETS LEAVING FORMER CLUB

Spanish outlet, Reveno has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo regretted leaving Real Madrid for Juventus in 2018.

Relevo also claimed that the veteran Portugal striker was not happy at Juventus.

Ronaldo is now with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr where he recently signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 37-year-old fired in 101 goals for the Old Lady in 134 appearances but still felt he should not have left Madrid for Turin.

He was not happy with the squad even though they won two Serie A titles in his three seasons at the club.
