Millions may die due to abuse of Paracetamol – PSN

Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has warned against misuse of Paracetamol, saying such practice damages the liver, kidney, and others.


Mr. Jelili Kilani, PSN Chairman, FCT Chapter disclosed that Paracetamol, an analgesic, is to be used on prescription.

Kilani also described drug abuse as an ill-wind which effect might be detrimental to the body adding that several individuals are guilty of excessive quantities, unintended and abuse of drugs.
Mr. Jelili Kilani, decried “The usual practice of taking about three or more tablet of Paracetamol at once to fast-track healing processes is one of the fastest ways to damage internal organs like the liver and kidney to the point of lack of remedy”.

He maintained that water is the only drug that is harmless to the body.

Kilani however, urged the general public to desist from abuse of Paracetamol in order to avert inflicting injury to their system.
