The Peoples Democratic Party’s Governorship Candidate in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of Oyo State governorship election.
Makinde polled 563,756 votes to defeat the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Teslim Folarin, who scored 256,685.
The governor won in 31 of the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State, while Folarin won in only two Local Governments.
INEC’s State Collation Officer, Prof. Adebayo Simeon, Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, declared Makinde winner having satisfied the electoral act.
Being re-elected, the governor will now serve another term of four years beginning from 29 May, 2023.
