A Lagos Federal High Court has convicted Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a medical doctor and founder of MedContour Services Ltd., over the death of a client, Nneka Onwuzuligbo, in 2020. The client died after a failed plastic surgery performed by Dr. Adepoju.
Babatunde Irukera, a former Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), disclosed this on social media, Friday. Irukera, who personally prosecuted Dr. Adepoju, expressed pride in the conviction, stating that it strengthens the accountability framework for professionals and individuals in society.
In his tweet, Irukera wrote, “Today is a day of pride for me that I personally prosecuted Anu Adepoju and her medical practice… Dr. Anu Adepoju and her medical practice convicted in all 5 counts charged by FCCPC. The wheel of justice may grind slowly, but we must see it through.”
The FCCPC had arraigned Dr. Adepoju on five counts in 2020, accusing her of shunning summons to appear and produce a certain document where Justice Mohammed Liman presided over the case.
