The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari had in his address to the nation stated that the government does not intend to create hardship for the citizens by naira redesign policy.
He therefore apologized for the the lapses on the part the bankers whose responsibility is to ensure that the naira swap is done without hitches.
President Buhari also assured the nation that the current naira Scarcity will not persist because measures are already in place to ameliorate the suffering of the masses.
According to him, the naira redesign policy has started having positive impact on the economy. He noted that by mopping up the excess cash that had earlier been withdrawn from the banking system, the rate of inflation in the country has nosedived.
The President also mentioned that the economic policy is aimed at preventing vote buying in the forthcoming election so that the people can elect credible candidates of their choice.
The President stated that the government has decided that the old N200 notes will remain in circulation as legal tender until April 2023.
