A prominent politician who hails from Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas is dead.
Graham-Douglas, was born on the 8th of May 1939. He was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture in 1989, then Minister of Aviation during General Ibrahim Babaginda’s cabinet.
In 1999, he was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity, and in 2000, Minister of Tourism in the Olusegun Obasanjo cabinet, leaving office in January 2001.
News of his demise strained into Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday morning, though there is no official confirmation from the family yet but a source who pleaded anonymity confirmed the death to Punch correspondent adding that he has been battling an undisclosed ailment.
